ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday clarified that Naeem-ul-Haq will remain the main spokesperson of the party.

Imran Khan said on Twitter that Naeem-ul-Haq will also remain the Central Information Secretary as well as the main spokesperson, while they have a team of spokespersons to represent them on television.

Earlier there were reports that he had been replaced by prominent analyst and lawyer Fawad Chaudhry. However, the clarification was made by Imran Khan himself that Naeem-ul-Haq has not been replaced.

Naeem-ul-Haq also confirmed and said that both his positions remain intact and no changes have been made. He welcomed Fawad Chaudhry to the team of spokespersons of the party.

Fawad Chaudhry has welcomed the decision of the party to add to the team of spokespersons, and vowed to contribute in any way to the best of his capacity.

Earlier PTI General Secretary Jehangir Khan Tareen said that the decision to appoint Fawad Chaudhry among the spokespersons was a routine procedure and dispelled any rumours circulated in the media.

He said that Imran Khan was consulted and informed of the decision, and that both Naeem-ul-Haq and Fawad Chaudhry will work together in the party’s information wing.

Fawad Chaudhry had recently joined the PTI after he quit the Pakistan People’s Party. Previously he was also affiliated with the All Pakistan Muslim League of former President Pervez Musharraf.

Chaudhry was also the PTI candidate for by-election in Jhelum in September where he was defeated by Raja Matloob of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz.

Chaudhry was selected due to his experiences as a spokesman with the predecessor parties and his knowledge of legal procedures and laws.
