National Assembly meets today

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly session on Monday (today) likely to witness fireworks across the government and opposition divide amid the political challenge to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government.

The political parties are planning their strategies for the session coming before the march on Islamabad threatened by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Pakistan’s independence day.

Major opposition parties in the lower house the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and PTI likely to raise protest against the invocation of Article 245 in the National Assembly session, which has been summoned to hold debate on President Mamnoon Hussain’s address to a joint sitting of the parliament.

The government and the main opposition parties are due to hold meetings of their parliamentarians before the start of the opening of the session at 4:00 pm in the morning.
