National Emergency Polio Action Committee 2014 approved
ISLAMABAD: National Emergency Polio Action Committee 2014 was approved here today by President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, ARY News reports.
According to the action plan, the Federal and Provincial Governments will be working together for eradication of polio from the country. It is also stated that a national and special polio immunization campaigns will be organized in the country.
Polio Action Committee 2014 further states that polio drops will also be given to children living near the borders.
On the occasion, Mamnoon Hussain was briefed about the ongoing polio immunization campaigns in the country. He was informed that 69 polio cases were reported from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). It was told that the polio campaigns are being affected due to extremism in the region.
He was assured that authorities are taking steps to make the campaigns effective.
Mamnoon Hussain said that the scholars and Ulema should aware the masses about eradication of polio virus from Pakistan.
On the other hand, a ban has been imposed on pillion riding in Khyber Agency throughout the polio campaign in the region.
