ISLAMABAD: Former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are expected to leave for London on Thursday (tomorrow).

According to details, Salman Shehbaz, son of Shehbaz Sharif, will also accompany Nawaz and Maryam on their flight from Lahore to London.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar had permitted that the deposed premier along with his daughter, Maryam, can visit his ailing wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz in London.

On the other hand, the meeting of Interior Ministry is expected to be held today which will decide the fate of Sharif family pertaining to placing their names on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Previously, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), being suspicious of Sharif family’s intent to flee from the country, wrote a letter to the Interior Ministry requesting to place the names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar’s on ECL.

NAB—in its letter—stipulated that Avenfield reference against Sharif family has entered its concluding phase and hence, it is feared that accused may flee abroad in an attempt to escape legal outcomes.

Interior Ministry, after receiving NAB letter, directed to form a committee comprising three federal ministers and tasked it to review the letter and send suggestions to the federal cabinet.

It is worth mentioning that first request of NAB to put Sharif family on ECL was turned down by then interior minister Ahsan Iqbal.
