LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of party’s newly formed Central Executive Committee (CEC) tomorrow (Monday) in Islamabad.

The meeting is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Maryam Nawaz, Hamza Shehbaz, Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, and Chaudhry Nisar.

Former PM Nawaz Sharif will head two newly formed party committees, despite a fact both lists of the party’s committees did not bear Sharif’s name.

On Saturday, the ruling party announced 27-member Central Executive Committee (CEC) and 109-member Central Working Committee (CWC) after which Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz was formally introduced among PML-N leaders of supreme body.

The ruling party has also inducted some new faces including Maryam’s first cousin Hamza Shehbaz Sharif in its 27-member supreme body.

The formation of new decision-making body and induction of two Sharif family members are being deemed as a strategy to keep powers within the family, analysts said.

Besides CEC, Sharif-led PML-N also announced 109 members of its Central Working Committee (CWC).

Both Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz have been made part of CEC which only contained the top tier of PML-N leadership.

The party’s supreme body comprises Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Parvez Rasheed, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Ayaz Sadiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Saad Rafique and Marriyum Nawaz.
