Remember, we had told you how Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s comment on a typical Bollywood hero romancing his heroine had irked off veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who had then blasted Nawaz saying the actor doesn’t have an image nor the talent, etc etc.
Anyway, Nawazuddin finally decided to publicly apologize to the veteran actor, thus expecting this unintentional controversy to come to an end.
Says Nawaz,“It was never my intention to criticize or to even speak about Rishi Kapoorji. He is a senior and an actor I’ve grown up watching. Back home where I grew up we had no cinema halls. I’d travel hundreds of kilometers to watch Rishiii in Bobby, Khel Khel Mein and Kabhi Kabhie. He was, and remains one of my favourite actors.”
He then added, “It was a general observation on romantic scenes. I don’t know why he took it personally. I never meant to cause any offence. I’ve no hesitation in apologizing to Rishiji.”
Hey, but you know what? Rishi Kapoor now says that he was misquoted and that his reaction was certainly not the way it has been made out to be.
He said: “I haven’t read the interview where I am quoted as talking about Nawazuddin. But I don’t remember saying anything to any journalist about this. Someone mentioned that this actor had strongly condemned some actors who had a particular image. To this I had a polite reaction. My reaction was certainly not the way it has been made out to be.”
