LAHORE: Governor Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that General Raheel Sharif is an excellent officer and he will make the defence of the country unbeatable through his capabilities, while the credit for the continuation of democracy in the state goes to the people of Pakistan – ARY News reports.
Talking to media after a ceremony here at the Governor House, Chaudhry Sarwar termed the appointment of the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as a positive sign and said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has made the decision after due consideration.
The Governor Punjab stated that the new Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif is a capable officer and he will utilize all his abilities in order to overcome all the challenges faced by the country at the national level, including the terrorism.
In return to a question about the outgoing COAS General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Sarwar praised his services for keeping the democracy on track, but the credit for its continuity goes to the people of Pakistan.
