ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday received the new chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar in his first such visit, Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Lt. Gen Naveed Mukhtar was named the head of ISI in place of Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar earlier this month.
Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar was appointed as President of the National Defence University Islamabad.
In the meeting in Prime Minister House here, the DG ISI discussed the national security issues with the prime minister.
Prime Minister Sharif congratulated Lt. Gen. Mukhtar on his new responsibility and hoped he will perform it with the same zeal and dedication.
Gen Mukhtar had been earlier serving as the Corps Commander in Karachi.
