New Zealand beats India, claims ODI series

HAMILTON: New Zealand defeated India in the fourth One Day International (ODI) by seven wickets to clinch the five match ODI series 3-0 here at Seddon Park on Tuesday, ARY News reports.

India won the toss and chose to bat first.

 The visitors scored 278/5 runs in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Rohit Sharma and Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 79 runs each whereas Ravindra Jadeja scored 62 runs for the side.

Tim Southee took 2 wickets for the Black Caps whereas Kyle Mills, Kane Williamson and Hamish Bennett grabbed a wicket each.

In reply, New Zealand chased the target with an over to spare. Kiwi batsman Ross Taylor played unbeaten fabulous innings of 112 runs followed by Kane Williamson's knock of 60 runs. Hard hitter Brendon McCullum made remained not out at 49 whereas Martin Guptill scored 35 runs for the team.

Indian pacers Mohammad Shami and Varun Aaron dismissed a batsman each.

Ross Taylor was named the man of the match for his match winning ton.

The fifth and final ODI will be played at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on 31st January.
