KARACHI: Journalists community on the call of the media workers organizations holding countrywide protests against ban on ARY News transmissions and curbs on media in the country.

The newsmen and media workers holding sit-ins in front of the offices of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) for restoration of the transmissions of ARY News and to protest against curbs on the media in the country.

In Karachi newsmen and other media workers holding protests before the regional office of PEMRA to press for restoration of the transmissions of ARY News.

PFUJ leader Amin Yousuf, Mazhar Abbas, leaders of Pakistan People’s Party Senator Raza Rabbani, Rashid Rabbani and other parties leaders addressing the protest in Karachi expressed their solidarity with ARY News and its workers and urged the government to avoid strong arm tactics against the media.

It is mentioned here that Sindh High Court had issued stay orders against the PEMRA’s ban on the ARY News. The transmissions of ARY News were not restored despite the court orders.

The newsmen and other media workers also holding protests over the curbs on media in Lahore and other cities and towns of Pakistan.
