NHA’s revenue increased by Rupees 10bn over last eight months: Murad Saeed

ISLAMABAD: The Senate of Pakistan on Friday was informed that the revenue of National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased by ten billion rupees over the last eight months, Radio Pakistan reported.

Apprising the house, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said that work is underway on geographic information system to ensure better management of highways and motorways.

“The revenue collected from the toll plazas are being spent on the maintenance and repair of the highways”, he maintained.

Murad Saeed maintained a national road safety policy has been framed to ensure safety of commuters on the roads.

The house was deferred to meet again on Monday at three pm.

Yesterday, while expressing his views in the National Assembly, Murad Saeed had said dualization of Karachi Northern Pass has been planned and added that construction work on the project will be started by the end of this year after hiring the services of consultants and the contractor.

Murad Saeed said that Sukkur-Multan section of the motorway will be made operational by August this year. He said the government is also preparing a detailed design and commercial feasibility of Sukkur-Hyderabad (M-6) motorway to be completed on BOT basis.
