No extra-constitutional demands will be accepted, clarifies PM

In his meeting with senior journalists and anchorpersons on Thursday, the prime minister said that the government will not accept any extra-constitutional demands, no matter by whom so ever. He added, “We were ready to negotiate, we still are”.

PM Nawaz said eleven out of twelve political parties in the parliament, are in favor of him and the government will not be pressurized.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) are firm on their demand of a resignation by the prime minister and have said that negotiations with the government cannot advance without this.

They have presented some other demands as well which include electoral reforms, re-elections, unbiased caretaker government, dissolution of the current election commission and accountability of the ones involved in rigging of last general elections.

Both the agitating parties are not ready to further talks with government until the acceptance of their first and foremost demand of PM’s resignation.
