According to an Indian news agency, BCCI Secretary Thakur said that a series was planned in 2015 but not this year. He added that the side will play against Pakistan in this Asia Cup and World T20 which would take place this year in Bangladesh and India respectively.

It should be noted that Pakistan and India were likely to play a limited overs series last year but both governments could not come to an agreement regarding where the series would be played.

The hostile bilateral ties between the two countries also proved to be a hurdle in organizing the series.
