The Golden Kela award is a plaque nobody aspires to win, for obvious reasons! The awards that put to shame one of the biggest names in Bollywood have yet again announced their nominations and things are not looking up for Sajid Khan or Prabhudeva. Sajid Khan directed Humshakals which had big names to its cast such as Saif Ali Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. Action Jackson starred Ajay Devgan and Sonakshi Sinha, two Bollywood heavyeights who failed to impress critics.
Humshakals has been nominated for the categories of Worst Film, Worst Director and Worst Actor, Most Atrocious Lyrics and for the Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke Award.
Action Jackson will be vying for some of the same awards with Humshakals. With a total of four nominations for Worst Film, Worst Director, Worst Actor and Worst Actress awards, Action Jackson is also not likely to go empty handed.
The actresses haven’t been spared for their dismal performances also as Sonakshi Sinha leads the pack, for the Worst Actress category, with multiple nominations for her movies Holiday, Lingaa and Action Jackson. Her competitors in the same category include Katrina Kaif for Bang Bang!, Sonam Kapoor (all her movies from 2014), Tamannah Bhatia (Entertainment), Jacqueline Fernandes (Kick).
The awards will also aim to discredit and have a dig at some of the directors who failed to muse the audiences with their movies. Humshakals’ director Sajid is vying for the worst director spot with Prabhu Deva for (Action Jackson), Rohit Shetty (Singham Returns), Sajid Nadiadwala (Kick) and Siddharth Anand (Bang Bang!).
A special category in the Golden Kela awards also exist for those who debuted in 2014 and failed to make an impression. The Worst Debutant category includes the likes of Tiger Shroff (Heropanti), The Xpose Girls (The Xpose), Mishti and Kartik Tiwari (Kaanchi), the whole cast and crew of Yaariyan and Daisy Shah (Jai Ho).
Let’s hope the Bollywood actors take their ‘winnings’ in stride. After all, the humorous Golden Kela awards serve as a feedback for some performers who can bring their game up a notch!
