Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for Shahid Masood

KARACHI: In another blow to already banned anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood, a court on Friday issued a non-bailable arrest warrants for the journalist in a case related to corruption of Rs38 million in the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV), ARY News reported.

The warrants were issued by a senior civil judge on the request of the Federal Investigation Agency for his non-cooperation in the graft case.

An investigation officer of FIA, Kashif Riaz Awan said the suspect deliberately avoided to join the investigation.

“Sufficient incriminating evidences have come on record to effect the arrest of the accused. It is, therefore, requested that non-bailable warrants of arrest of Shahid Masood may please by issued for culmination of instant investigation,” reads the request filed by the FIA official.

Earlier in March, the Supreme Court slapped a three-month ban on Dr Shahid Masood’s TV talk show after a probe committee found his startling claims false and baseless.
