Obama telephones PM Nawaz, discusses regional situation

ISLAMABAD/WASHINGTON: US President Barrack Obama on Friday telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to exchange views on regional situation, ARY News reported.

Both the dignitaries also discussed matters of mutual interest.

Obama said the US wanted to see Pak-India relations as cordial and prosperous.

The US president took Mr. Sharif into confidence regarding the former’s upcoming visit to India.

Obama will travel to India in January for its Republic Day celebrations, and talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the White House said Friday.

His trip follows up on Modi’s debut visit to Washington as India’s leader in September.

PM Sharif said Pakistan considered the US as its important ally and friendly country.
