No offensive to take place in NWA for 15 days, Governor tells tribal elders

PESHAWAR: The Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and tribal elders have agreed upon restoring peace in North Waziristan Agency (NWA), while the Governor KP also ensured them that no military offensive will take place there for the next 15 days – ARY News reports.

According to details, a jirgah was held here on Friday, between tribal elders and the Governor KP, at which it was decided that the elders will make efforts to restore peace in the region in next 15 days.

Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi ensured that no offensive will take place in these 15 days. The jirgah also decided that the tribal elders will contact confronting groups, for the maintenance of peace.

Addressing the attendees, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi said that the Federal Government has the top priority of restoring peace in tribal areas, once peace is re-established then the development works can also be initiated there.

He said that all the resources are being utilized for restoring peace in FATA and the situation of North Waziristan needs to be tackled with collective efforts.
