ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has approved the bail plea of former Chairman of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Tauqeer Sadiq against 2 security bonds worth of 10 lac rupees each – ARY News reports.

A two member bench of the IHC comprising of Justice Noor ul Haq Qureshi and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan heard the case here on Wednesday.

During the hearing, counsel of Tauqeer Sadiq, Sardar Azmatullah stated before the court that his client is innocent and no allegation has been proven against him.

He told that seven months have passed, yet Sadiq has not been granted bail besides the fact that the prosecution could not prove any charge against him, whereas other accused in the case have been released on bail.

At this NAB prosecutor, Saeed Zaman took the stance that Tauqeer Sadiq is the prime accused in the OGRA Corruption Case and if he is granted bail, he will escape abroad.

The court after listening to the arguments reserved its verdict and adjourned the hearing.
