Oil tanker overturns in Attock, halts traffic movement

ATTOCK: An oil tanker, reportedly carrying as much as 50,000 litres of oil, overturned while taking a turn on Khor road here causing fuel leakage, ARY News reported on Sunday. 

Acting swiftly, the rescue teams reached the spot and sealed the road for traffic movement in a bid to avoid any untoward incident.

The tanker was travelling from Kohat to Khor when it turned turtle causing oil leakage from it. The authorities concerned have cordoned off the venue.

This incident is third in its kind within a week.

On Friday, another oil-laden container overturned near Mirpur Mathelo and the local administration had closed the National Highway for traffic as thousands of litres of oil was spilled from the crashed tanker.

It should be recalled here that on June 25 – a day before Eid – a speeding oil tanker overturned and caught fire due to oil leakage on National Highway near Ahmedpur Sharqia, Bahawalpur, claiming over 190 lives.
