In a media briefing, the DG ISPR said 195 militants had been killed since the operation was launched. He informed that Rs 6 billion had been released for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan.
Bajwa told that North Waziristan had become a stronghold of militants before army launched their offensive. He also expressed doubt about fleeing of some terrorist elements just before the launching of military operation.
However, he added that no militant could flee the volatile NWA territory after June 15. “We are adopting measures for rehabilitation of IDPs as their strength has now risen above 9,00,000 (0.9 million)”.
The registration, he said, of IDPs was being made after thorough verification. He maintained that armed forces would meet up to the expectations of masses in operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ against militants.
At least 88 hideouts of militants have been destroyed in an ongoing operation, told the DG ISPR.
