One killed, 34 injured by lightning strikes in Jhang

JHANG: A teenage girl was killed while over two dozen other people suffered injuries in rain-related incidents in Jhang district, ARY News reported.

According to rescue sources, a 14-year-old girl lost her life while 32 other people suffered wounds after being struck by lightning in Athara Hazari. The victims were working in fields when they were hit by lightning strikes.

The injured were shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Jhang experienced 01 millimeter of rainfall in the past 24 hours.

It said mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country, while hot in south Punjab and Sindh on Monday.

However, rain-thunderstorm (with gusty winds) is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, D.I Khan, Zhob, D.G khan, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Kalat divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
