One killed in Islamabad twin blasts

ISLAMABAD: One person was killed and two others were injured in twin blasts in Islamabad on late Friday night, ARY News reports.

The first explosion took place in the posh Supermarket area of the federal capital. According to details, an alleged suicide bomber was killed and two others, including a gatekeeper by the name of Gulzaar Ahmad, were injured.

The explosion was heard in the far flung areas of the city.

According to police, a clash took place between the gatekeeper and the suspected suicide bomber.

Authorities have expressed concerns that the bomber wanted to carry out the attack early Saturday morning as top officials and foreign nationals arrive in the area.

The second blast took place in Karachi Company area in which several vehicles were damaged.

Sources reported that the explosives were planted in a car. The windows of other vehicles were shattered due to the impact of the blast.

No casualties were reported in the explosion.

Islamabad Police started search operations after the twin blasts in federal capital.
