DG NAB Major General (r) Tariq Mehmood spoke exclusively to ARY News and said that Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani had kept the money at his home.
“These funds were not being given directly to the local government but were being handed over to the Secretary Treasure,” he claimed.
He also said that it wasn’t possible for one person alone to be involved in the theft of such a large amount.
“Action will be taken against all those who are involved in this crime,” he stated.
“If the money is deposited in an account, then the whole issue is exposed,” said Tariq Mehmood. He also said that money in such a large quantity is usually kept at home so that it could be transferred to another place in the next couple of days.
He also disclosed how it took three machines to count the money, which had been found in a large quantity. DG NAB also said that currently his organisation was working on development schemes since complaints of corruption had been received regarding them.
NAB had obtained a fourteen-day remand from the courts on Saturday morning for Secretary Treasury Balochistan Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani, who had been arrested as large amounts of local, foreign currency and gold had been recovered from his house. The total amount of money recovered from his house totaled to Rs 63 crores.
