ISLAMABAD: One person was killed and over 20 female students were wounded after a bus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) rammed into a footpath on Wednesday.
The fatal incident happened near the G-11 signal on Kashmir Highway early morning due to overspeeding when the students were on their way to the university.
However, the reason of the accident remained unknown.
According to the police and rescue officials, the ill-fated bus was carrying more than 50 IIUI students.
As a result of the incident, a motorcyclist, Allauddin, died when he was being taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
At least 20 female students sustained injuries and were discharged from the hospital after initial treatment.
Officials of the Safe City Police immediately spotted the accident on their cameras installed on the highway and dispatched rescue teams to the site.
Meanwhile, senior police officials also reached the spot in a bid to supervise the rescue operation.
