Over 0.2 mln Pakistanis deported from 2014-2016: ministry

ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry has stated that over 0.2 million Pakistani expatriates were expelled from 135 countries of the world, from year 2014 to 2016, ARY News reported.

The ministry further said in a report that majority of the expatriates were expelled from the countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates.

Moreover, several Pakistanis were also expelled from Turkey, United Kingdom and Greece, the ministry said.

According to the statistics released by the Interior Ministry, 2,00,066 Pakistani expatriates deported from year 2014 to 2016. In 2014, 78,409 Pakistani nationals were expelled whereas the figure rose to 1,16,185 in year 2015.

The number of deported Pakistanis declined to 71,886 in 2016.

The figures included Pakistani nationals who were expelled through land and sea routes.
