LAHORE: A resolution seeking across-the-board action against banned outfits and their facilitators was submitted in the Punjab Assembly secretariat on Monday, ARY News reported.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Uzma Zahid Bukhari submitted the resolution, demanding action against proscribed outfits across the province without any discrimination. She further demanded that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government also take action against facilitators of banned organizations.
The PML-N lawmaker stressed the need for implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit.
In a statement of late, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi had said the renewed campaign against proscribed organisations will continue until the intended objectives are not achieved.
“Operation against proscribed organisations as per National Action Plan 2014 (NAP) shall continue till achievement of objectives,” he tweeted.
He said that the PTI government was pursuing efforts to accelerate progress on the NAP.
Separately, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry had said in an interview that the recent crackdown against proscribed outfits was in line with the decisions made during a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) in January this year.
He said the government has been implementing the NSC decisions with regard to proscribed organizations. He recalled that there was a consensus among all political parties about the National Action Plan (NAP) in 2014.
