Pak-Army troops take positions in Red Zone

The ISPR told that Pakistan Army soldiers have taken their positions in the Red Zone of the federal capital while military contingents have also reached the Shahrah e Dastoor, Sarena Chowk and Khayaban e Suharwardi. It was further said that these contingents were sent upon the request of the federal government.

Our correspondent Azhar bin Karim reported exclusively from the Red Zone, that the personnel of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have taken their positions. Islamabad Police and Punjab Police form the first security layer, while these personnel are not armed with live rounds; they rather have the tear gas shells and rubber bullets in order to avoid any casualties.

The second security layer comprises of Rangers and FC men, while the Pakistan Army soldiers form the inner most security layer.

A control room has also been formed in a private hotel, from which the officials are monitoring the entire situation, while the air-surveillance is also continued in the Red Zone through Pak-Army choppers.

Most of the military troops are vested with the security of the diplomatic enclave and will remain inside the sensitive buildings.

Moreover, it was said that Pak-Army personnel will not come face to face with the protesters, they will remain positioned at sensitive buildings and offices, ensuring in-depth security.
