A Pakistan-India peace calendar was released in New Delhi, sending out a message of peace in times of strained bilateral ties between the two countries, reported Radio Pakistan on Tuesday.

This initiative was taken by the Aaghaz-e-Dosti organization which works to foster people-to-people relations between the two counties through its voluntary network of people.

It features paintings of school students from Pakistan and India on the theme of peace. Six paintings were selected from each country to be published in the form of a calendar.

“Young generation is the hope for both countries,” said Sudheendra Kulkarni, a former aide of (Late) Indian prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Kulkarni recalled how initiatives such as  bus, train and trade services across borders brought happiness to people. “More such steps should be taken.”

According to an Indian website, Major General (retired) T K Kaul, the executive president of India Pakistan Soldiers Initiative for Peace, spoke about how veterans in both countries have been advocating peace since ages.
