Resuming from overnight at 113 without loss, Australia lost their all wickets for the addition of 175 runs, conceding a lead of 151 runs to Pakistan’s first innings total of 454.
David Warner top-scored with 133 while Chris Rogers made 38 and Mitchell Johnson chipped in with 37.
For Pakistan, leg-spinner Yasir Shah (3-66), paceman Rahat Ali (2-55) and left-armer Zulfiqar Babar (2-81) shared the bowling honours.
Pakistan openers Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shahzad opened the innings and put up a partnership of 38 runs. Both the players looked confident.
Shehzad scored 22 off 42 balls while Ali 16 off 36 to end Pakistan’s day on an impressive note.
