Pakistan announces squad for Junior Hockey World Cup in India

KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday announced the 18-member squad which will play the 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup in India.

The hockey federation has named Ammad Butt as the captain of the side whereas Mohammad Dilbar has been appointed the vice-captain.

The squad comprises of Ammad Butt, Mohammad Dilbar, Ali Raza, Muneeb-ur-Rehman, Atif Mushtaq, Ahsan Anwar, Mubashir Ali, Abu Bakar Mehmood, Mohammad Junaid Kamal, Faizan, Taazeem-ul-Hassan, Shan Irshad, Azfar Yaqoob, Mohammad Atiq, Bilal Qadir, Mohsin Sabir, Sohail Riaz and Samiullah.

The 2016 Junior Hockey World Cup will take place from 8th-18 December 2016 and all matches will be played at Lucknow’s Dhyan Chand Astro-turf Stadium.

Pakistan has been placed in Group B of the competition alongside Netherlands, Belgium and Egypt. Pakistan and Netherlands have already secured their place in the quarter finals stage of the competition.

Pakistan will play their first game of the group stage against Netherlands on 10th December and their second match will be against Egypt on 11th December.

Their third and final game of the group stage will be against Belgium on 12th December.
