According to details, Pakistan acted on leads provided to it by India. Ajit Doval’s statement confirming Pakistan-India dialogue would be held as per schedule, laid waste to Indian media’s wishes.

India had provided evidence to Pakistan of phone calls originating from somewhere near Bahawalpur to Pathankot. According to India, militants who had attacked at Pathankot had spoken on the phone with someone from Bahawalpur.

India had placed blame on banned outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad however, United Jihad Council had taken responsibility of the attack. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had phoned his Indian counterpart during a recent visit to Sri Lanka and assured Narendra Modi of Pakistan’s co-operation.

The Pathankot incident had claimed the lives of 7 Indian  soldiers while 5 militants were killed in the encounter.
