Pakistan comprehensively beats Sri Lanka by 113 runs

SHARJAH: Pakistan comprehensively defeated Sri Lanka by 113 runs on Sunday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, ARY News reported.

Sri Lanka faced difficulties while chasing 327 and lost wickets at regular intervals. Tilkaratne Dilshan (59), the only Sri Lankan batsman to score halfcentury.

Dinish Chandimal and Angelo Mathews started off well but wasn’t able to carry on and dismissed after scoring 36 and 44 respectively.

Umar Gul, who made comeback took three crucial wickets in his 5.4 overs while Junaid Khan, Saeed Ajmal and Mohammed Hafeez took 2 wickets each.

Pakistan now leads the 5-match series by 2-1.

Earlier, Mohammad Hafeez played fine knock of unbeaten 140 runs.

At start, opening batsmen Sherjeel Khan dismissed early to a fine Kulasekara delivery that angled in, pitched on leg then jagged away, beating Sharjeel's shot to clip the top of off stump but Ahmed Shehzad (81) along with Hafeez blessed their team with the stand of 160 runs.

Later the inning, captain of national cricket team Misbahul-Haq played a handy knock of 40 runs in an aggressive manner hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Umar Akmal remained unbeaten at 23 runs that came in only 12 balls.

Thisara Perera took 2 wickets but remained expensive conceding 58 runs in 8 overs.
