Pakistan says deaths of foreign hostages underscores risks of using drones

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has expressed sadness over the killing of American Warren Weinstein and Italian Giovanni Lo Porto in a United States drone attack in January, ARY News reports.

A statement on the website of Foreign Ministry read “the death of Mr. Weinstein and Mr. Lo Porto in a drone strike demonstrates the risk and unintended consequences of the use of this technology that Pakistan has been highlighting for a long time”.

It was further stated that the killings has been received in the country with shock and sorrow.

Foreign Office also stated that Pakistan understand the loss stands with the families of the deceased persons.

Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama has taken full responsibility of the “botched” drone attack and offered deepest apologies to the families of the slain persons.
