ISLAMABAD: National Security Advisor Lt General (retd) Nasir Janjua on Monday said that the terrorism in Pakistan emerged after the country extended its support to the United States in war against terrorism.

Addressing a National Security Policy seminar, Janjua said the country inflicted massive human and economic losses owing to the war against terrorism.

“Despite rendering these sacrifices, the world has still not recognized the country’s vital role,” he lamented.

Coming on Indo-US ties, he said Trump administration has been constantly spreading Indian propaganda against China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He said the country’s nuclear programme is also being targeted while US is not paying heed to weapons stock that India has been piling up.

Janjua said Pakistan defeated the heinous designs of its enemy as the insurgents in Balochistan are surrendering and raising ‘Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan’ (Long live Pakistan) slogans.

The national security advisor also noted that the US has disrupted balance of power in the region in sheer opposition of China and Russia.

He said the United States has been failed in Afghanistan as Taliban continue to gain foothold in the country.

He urged for collective efforts to end four-decade-old instability in Afghanistan while inviting all stakeholders to play their due role.
