Pakistan expresses solidarity with Syed Ali Shah Geelani
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release issued today, stated that Government and the people of Pakistan sympathize with Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is unable to travel to Saudi Arabia to see his daughter in Jeddah due to travel restrictions imposed on him.
“The Government of Pakistan stands ready to extend every possible assistance to Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his family. It is unfortunate that a humanitarian issue is being played up in the Indian media”, the statement adds.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of India has adopting delaying tactics in issuing passport to Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
According to People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the coalition partner of BJP in government of India, BJP has demanded Geelani to issue apology for his ‘anti-national activities’ as well as to acknowledge that he is an Indian if he wants an Indian passport.
