Pakistan hands over 163 released fishermen to India

According to details, Pakistan had freed 163 Indian fishermen following the meeting between Pakistani and Indian Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi at Russian city of Ufa.

India has not yet released the captured Pakistani fishermen. The released Indian fishermen have appealed both countries to free each others’ prisoners on humanitarian grounds.

According to a statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, Government of Pakistan released 163 Indian fishermen, yesterday.

The foreign ministry added that, “Pakistan has always held that the issue of prisoners in our respective countries is a humanitarian one and should be taken in that spirit. It is our hope that both countries will release all prisoners who have completed their sentences.”
