Journalists across Pakistan announce protest for Faizullah’s release

KARACHI: Journalists around the country have announced to hold protest demonstrations on Wednesday for the release of ARY News reporter Faizullah Khan who is under custody in Afghanistan, ARY News reported.

ARY News reporter, Faizullah Khan, who mistakenly crossed the Afghanistan border during one of his assignments has been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment by Afghan authorities.

The decision by Afghan government has angered journalists across Pakistan journalist unions which include PFUJ, KFUJ, BUJ and others have called for protest demonstrations in this regard.

President PFUJ, Afzal Butt while condeming the arrest said that protest rallies will be organized all over the country on Wednesday for immediate and safe release of Faizullah Khan.

Rizwan Bhatti, who is the general secretary of KFUJ informed media that a protest rally will be held at Karachi Press Club for the release of detained reporter.

BUJ will also march from Quetta Press Club to Afghanistan Consulate while PFUJ General Secretary Khursheed Abbasi opined that all journalists stand united with ARY News and its team on the matter.
