Pakistan may host South Asian Games in 2018, 2020
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan may be hosting the South Asian Games (SAG) in 2018 provided if Nepal does not host the event next year.
President of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Lieutenant General (retd) Syed Arif Hasan stated that Pakistan’s capital Islamabad is the ideal city to host the event next year.
The POA president also said that Pakistan is likely to host the South Asian Games in 2020 as well.
Hasan added that they are raising the issue of India not issuing visas to its players in international forums.
Hasan gave importance on conducting the South Asian Games on international standards with the cooperation of government and has requested the government to allocate funds from the budget for the games for the next three years.
He added that new talent will emerge in the country due to the games.
The POA president said that the national games will be played in September this year in Quetta.
