Pakistan Navy launches cleanliness, tree plantation drive along Manora coast

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy on Sunday launched a cleanliness and tree plantation drive on coastal areas of Manora, ARY News reported.

Students and teachers of Dow Medical University also participated in the tree plantation campaign, said the Pakistan Navy spokesperson.

He said the purpose of the campaign was to spread awareness about cleanliness and tree plantation.

Guest of honor on this occasion was Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Commodore Waqar Mohammed.

Commodore Waqar said the Pakistan Navy had taken responsibility of plantation on entire coastal line. “Forest plays crucial role in tackling the issue of climate change,” he said.

The commodore said forest also played an important role in protection of sea environment.

On April 27, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan had rejected the opposition parties report on billion tree Tsunami as contrary to facts.

“This so called report is a political conspiracy and yet another drama on the part of the opposition,” Firdous Ashiq Awan had said this in a statement.

She had said the entire world knew that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s worst political opponents were sent for inspection of the trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The special assistant had said the opposition was left with no issues to do politics.
