Pakistan secure nine-wicket victory against Northamptonshire

NORTHAMPTON: Pakistan chased down the 133-run target in 27 overs with nine wickets in hand on the last day of the practice game against Northamptonshire.

Shadab Khan’s 10-wicket haul and Asad Shafiq unbeaten 186 helped Pakistan to win the warm-up match on Monday ahead of their first Test against Ireland.

Imam ul Haq scored 89-ball 59 while Haris Sohail struck 55 off 78 balls to register a comprehensive win for Pakistan.

A stout day of Northamptonshire batting followed, with their captain Rob Newton making 118, scoring his 13th first-class century.

Pakistan will play against Ireland in the hosts’ inaugural Test in Malahide on 11 May, before a two-match series against England starting on 24 May.

The tourists opening tour match with Kent was drawn after rain washed out days two and three.
