KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing concerns over participation in Asia Cup 2014 has decided to send security team to Bangladesh on January 20, ARY News reported.
According to spokesman PCB, following the security concerns PCB has taken a decision to review security measures for the event.
Pakistan cricket team want to participate in Asia Cup but the final decision will be taken after getting the security report and receiving instructions from the government, PCB spokesman stated.
On January 4, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced to retain Bangladesh as the host of the Asia Cup 2014 despite of recent political turmoil in the country.
Pakistan has expressed severe reservations regarding security measures in light of the diplomatic row between the governments of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The issue concerns the trial of 1971 war criminals in Bangladesh, which is taking place more than four decades after Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan.
Furthermore, in December, the West Indies Under-19s team had pulled out of their tour after an explosion near the team hotel.
