ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railway is set to establish the Directorate of Heritage for preservation, maintenance and development of heritage of the department.
This was stated by Minister for Railway, Khawaja Saad Rafique while chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore on Saturday. He said Pakistan Railways is the custodian of historical buildings, antiques and archive and we are responsible to transfer the heritage to the next generation.
He said antiques, historical items, furniture and archive of the railways will be put on display in a professional manner at the Golra’s museum. The minister lauded efforts of officers for renovation and maintenance of historical Golra station.

The station that once connected Peshawar, Jhelum, Havelian and Multan was transformed into a legacy exhibition hall toward the finish of 2002. Victorian porcelain, utensils, timekeepers, firearms utilized by monitors at prepare stations, chimneys, phones and typewriters have all discovered a home at the historical center, which stays open for guests from 9am to 4pm.
