Pakistan Railways to receive twenty locomotives from US

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways on Wednesday signed an agreement with US company General Electric under which it will receive twenty new locomotives.

An agreement was signed at the Ministry of Railways. General Electric’s Regional Sales Manager Ashfaq Nainar and Pakistan Railway’s Director Procurement Zaiuddin Qureshi.

US Ambassador David Hale and Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq also witnessed the ceremony.

Addressing on this occasion, the railways minister said that new locomotives will enhance capacity of Pakistan Railways to meet growing need of the country and bring further improvement in the railways system.

He said this is the second agreement earlier signed of  fifty-five Evolution Series locomotives having 4000 horse power.

The minister said Pakistan Railways has initiated number of projects to upgrade carriage factories and coaches to meet the growing challenges.
