ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office of Pakistan has categorically rebuffed the allegations leveled by arch-rival India in an Indo-US joint statement issued after the meeting of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the Secretary of Defense James Mattis with their Indian counterparts in New Delhi.
At a weekly briefing on Thursday in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal censured the unwarranted reference against Pakistan made in the joint statement by India and the US which accused Pakistan of using its soil for “terrorist proxies”.
He said “Pakistan rejects the baseless accusations and we have also conveyed our position to the US side.”
It is inconsistent with the set diplomatic norms to include the name of a third country with uncorroborated allegations in a formal document, Dr. Faisal vehemently stated, adding that avoiding other thorny issues pertaining to that third country [Pakistan] in the joint statement by neighboring country side, was even more ironic.
The spokesperson also clarified the judicial process shall take its due course and time, he said while referring to the another part of the joint statement related to the ongoing trail of Mumbai Attacks in the anti-terrorism court of Pakistan.
Dr Muhammad Faisal also stressed that the US side should also focus equally, if not more, on the Indian atrocities Indian occupied Kashmir.
Expressing astonishment over no mention in the joint statement about the consistent ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian troops, Dr. Faisal highlighted that such acts pose a significant threat to the regional peace and stability.
In an answer to a question, Dr Muhammad Faisal told that Pakistan is always ready to hold talks with India for the solution of all outstanding conflicts.
He further confirmed both neighboring countries are in involved in track two diplomacy.
