Pakistan restricts India to 245

TOP NEWS

MIRPUR: Pakistan restricted India to 245 in the 6th match of Asia Cup played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Sunday, ARY News reported.

Pakistan winning the toss elected to bowl first, the pitch began as a featherbed but as the game progressed it got slower and the bounce became tennis-ballish. Pakistan for their part exploited that perfectly.

Pakistani spinners performed well as Mohammad Hafeez (2) and Saeed Ajmal (3) took five wickets between them.

Hafeez struck early dismissing Shikhar Dhawan, who had been the initial aggressor for India.

Right arm pacer Mohammad Talha struck the most telling blows in the marquee Asia Cup clash, leaving India in strife at 113 for 4 in 25 overs, despite a sparkling half-century from Rohit Sharma. Talha generated good bounce off an upright, uncomplicated action to dismiss Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane in his first ODI spell, after India's form batsman Virat Kohli had earlier been snapped up by Umar Gul.

Indian middle order played well to overcome the initial surge of wickets. Ambati Rayudu played a sensible knock of 58 runs.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja showed some aggressiveness scoring unbeaten 52 runs in 49 balls taking score to 245.
