Pakistan seeking permanent solution to Youtube issue, says Anusha

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Technology (IT), Anusha Rehman has said that Pakistan is seeking a solution to anti-Islam material on Youtube on permanent basis, while the representative of Google Inc. Mike Orgal told that for containing controversial material, it is necessary to have a local domain of Youtube here – ARY News reports.

Mike Orgal while briefing the meeting of Senate's Standing Committee on IT ensured that a warning will be displayed prior to anti-Islam movies on the website.

He urged Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to identify the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of anti-Islam material, however to block any link in Pakistan a local domain will be required.

Secretary IT told the committee that legislation is underway for the local domain of Youtube and its bill shall be tabled in the Parliament in the end of this month.

Addressing the session of the committee, Anusha Rehman told that after applying filters films shown on Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (https) domain cannot be blocked, so the ministry is seeking a permanent solution to this.
