Pakistan seeks consular access to Altaf Hussain

LONDON: Pakistani High Commission on Wednesday sought consular access to MQM chief Altaf Hussain from the British government, ARY News reported.

According to sources, on directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan’s high commission in London was in contact with the authorities in London for consular access to Altaf Hussain, who has been in detention under money laundering charges.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali had earlier in telephonic conversation with Governor of Sindh Ishratul Ebad assured the government’s full cooperation to the MQM leader.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also chaired a meeting in which matters related to detention of Altaf Hussain and legal assistance to him were discussed in detail.

The meeting also discussed political and law and order situation of the country.
