Pakistan, Sri Lanka square off in first test today

ABU DHABI: Pakistan and Sri Lanka will clash in the first test of the three match series here at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium today, ARY News reports.

After riveting contests in the Twenty20 and One Day International (ODI) series, the two teams will face off in the longer formats. The T-20 series was squared 1-1 whereas Pakistan won the ODI series 3-2.

The Green Shirts will rely on spinner Saeed Ajmal whereas Sri Lankan batsman can create problem for the Pakistani bowlers. Sri Lankan batsmen Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkar are good players of spin bowlers.

The two teams are facing each other in a test series since July 2012 in which Pakistan lost the three match series 1-0. Overall, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have played 33 test matches in which Pakistan has won 16 and Sri Lanka emerged victorious in 10 matches.
