RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has successfully test-fired surface to surface Hatf-III Ghaznavi missile, citing military spokesman ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The ballistic missile could carry nuclear or conventional payload with 290 kilometers range.
The missile test was held during the field training exercise of the Army's Strategic Forces Command, a spokesman of the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan's armed forces, said.
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Rashad Mehmood and other top officials witnessed the test.
Gen. Rashad Mehmood felicitated the scientists and engineers for successful missile test. He said the test will help to ensure lasting peace in the region.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in their messages congratulated the scientists and technicians for successful test of the Hataf-III missile.
