Pakistan U-19 see off Scotland to reach quarterfinal of ICC U-19 WC

DUBAI: Pakistan Under-19 cruise past into the quarterfinal of ICC Under-19 World Cup with the comprehensive victory of 146 runs over Scotland Under-19s at ICC Academy Ground No 2, ARY News reported.

Pakistan elected to bat first. Skipper Sami Aslam backed to pavilion at the start but opener Imam-ul-Haq and Hassan Raza (2) helped Pakistan with the stand of 161 runs.                  

Imam-ul-Haq made 133 runs off 137 balls while Raza (2) played a watchful knock of 57 runs in 89 balls.                                        

A 34-ball 40 from Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam’s 34 off 16 balls powered Pakistan Under-19s with the total of 308 runs.                                    

Scotland Under-19s while chasing the target of 309 runs lost wickets at short interval of times. The only handy contribution was made by the opening batsmen Andrew Umeed of 65 runs.

Right-arm legbreak spinner of Pakistan Karamat Ali bowled a wonderful spell of bowling and dismissed 5 batsmen in 7.5 overs conceding 36 runs.                

Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the quarterfinal on February 22.
